Overseas Consultancy Working Group

IMCA is represented on the Working Group for a new initiative, hosted by Enterprise Ireland to help consultancy companies on the island win more business in international markets, with a focus on emerging markets and work funded by the International Financing Institutes such as the EC, World Bank, EIB etc.

The Working Group (titled Consulting Ireland) has representatives from IBEC and IPA also, as well as individual companies across a range of sectors such as IT, engineering, management consultancy and legal affairs.

One of the first tasks will be to develop an online database so that companies can profile their expertise and connect with one another. This would allow members to:

  • Register their contact details and contact person, etc.
  • Highlight their skill sets and value propositions
  • Detail their relevant project, programme and client references
  • Indicate the type of tenders in which they are interested

Other topics to be addressed include:

  1. Opportunity/Project Tracking - to view, within a single system, the opportunities that exist in various regions and under different programmes.
  2. Seminars and Mentoring - to help companies develop expressions of interest and respond to tenders in the proper format.
  3. Creating Scale and Developing References – this is a major issue as firms here are generally smaller than European competitors.
