Working Group Reports

Working Groups are the main way we realign IMCA’s services and updates on the work of the current groups are provided below.

ICAG continues to cater for independent consultants with a Breakfast meeting held in Dublin on November 12th. The Munster Group continues to pilot a model for support to consultants outside Dublin and held a social event at Cork on December 1st.  The South East Group held a networking event at New Ross on 13th October and one is being held in Limerick for the West / Mid-West Group on 9th February.  

The IMCA / IC NI Group continues to liaise with NI colleagues in the Institute of Consulting, now being restructured as part of the Chartered Management Institute.  The 2012 Annual Award is planned for Belfast end June. 

The Website Group has completed the development phase of the new site apart from snag list and SLA items.  A preliminary report using Google Analytics indicates increased traffic and sets out actions to increase the site's traffic and effectiveness.

The Graduates Group held a successful Careers in Consulting Event at Smurfit Business School on November 15th.  The DIT MSc in Strategic Management has been approved by the Board for the IMCA Graduate Programme and an enquiry has been received from the UCD MSc in Project Management.

Based on work completed by the CBA Group, the IMCA Board has agreed to proceed with the introduction of a CBA accreditation.

The Consulting Ireland initiative to help Irish consultants develop business overseas has set up an online database of consulting expertise (www.consultingireland.org) and held launch seminars at Dublin, Cork and Galway.   A Workshop held December 9th at Enterprise Ireland HQ East Point, Dublin included a demonstration of the new opportunity tracking service available in pilot mode.

The Government Group met Robert Watt, Secretary General of the Department of Public Expenditure October 20th to discuss issues around public sector reform, role of consultants and how to ensure inputs are most effective.   A follow up meeting is being held with the managers responsible for procurement.

The European Management Consultancy Services standard EN 16114 to which the CEN Group has input was launched on December 20th at NSAI HQ, Dublin.

The Marketing / PR and Pro Bono Groups held initial meetings.
